What are the two or three things that concern you the most right now? Do they involve your finances? Your health? Your family? Are you troubled by mistakes you made in the past? This may surprise you, but the devil understands something that most Christians don't.
Perhaps you've noticed that the Bible doesn't call him the enemy of all prosperity. The Bible doesn't call him the enemy of all health. The Bible doesn't call him the enemy of all peace. Or the enemy of all wisdom…or of all love…or of all joy.
But the Bible does call him the enemy of all righteousness (Acts 13:10). Why is this? Because the devil knows that righteousness is the key to all victory in our lives.
And that's why the devil spends all his time attacking the gift of righteousness in your life — trying to put inferiority back on you and trying to keep you thinking lower of yourself than what God says about you. But I'm not going to let that happen in your life, because I've learned that you cannot experience all that God has for you until you are established in righteousness.
Righteous means you have “right standing.” It means you have the right to stand in the presence of God — without a sense of guilt or shame or condemnation, without a sense of inferiority, without a sense of fear. In other words, it means that God is pleased with you! It's a gift, of course — made possible by the shed blood of Jesus Christ.
Think about that for a moment — God is pleased with you! You may have tried to convince yourself in the past that you're pleasing to God, but until you receive the gift of righteousness, you'll never truly feel like you're pleasing to Him.
But when you receive the gift of righteousness by faith, you'll understand that you're not in the process of being made the righteousness of God — but you're in the process of learning about that righteousness and in the process of living out that righteousness.
Righteousness is the taproot to all other blessings —
• the taproot to favor (Psalm 5:12).
• the taproot to prosperity (Proverbs 13:22).
• the taproot to healing (Malachi 4:2).
• the taproot to victory over sin (1 Corinthians 15:34).
• the taproot to wisdom (Proverbs 2:7).
• the taproot to spiritual growth (Ephesians 4:14-15).
Righteousness is a gift that will protect you and provide you with favor, wisdom, insight, power, authority and the anointing!
Is it any wonder why the devil has declared war on righteousness?
He wants to defeat you. He wants you to be influenced by your feelings and your image of yourself — and to be controlled by people and what they think about you. He's the enemy of righteousness.
The Bible says we can be established in righteousness (Isaiah 54:14). The gift of righteousness will provide an unshakable foundation for our lives — a rock to stand on in the midst of every storm.
Jesus never said that the wise man wasn't going to have storms. He just said that the wise man built his house upon the rock — this man was established in righteousness because he built his life upon the rock of God's Word.
What about you? Is your life built on that rock? Is your life firmly established in righteousness? Are you confident that God is pleased with you right now?
If you have any uncertainty about this, if there's any question at all — or if you're experiencing any kind of lack in your life, let me encourage you right now to do these three things:
First – Recognize that you need to get understanding. You need a revelation of who you are and what God has done for you. We will not reign in life without the gift of righteousness, and we will not reign in life without understanding the gift of righteousness.
Second – God wants our minds filled with a consciousness of righteousness because He knows that the devil gains access into our lives when we lack confidence in who we are in Christ.
Third – Sow into righteousness. Plant your best seed toward a harvest of righteousness in your life. Isaiah 32 says, “And the work of righteousness shall be peace and the effect of righteousness is quietness and assurance forever…When it shall hail, coming down on the forest, and the city shall be low in a low place, you'll be blessed because you sowed beside the waters” — you'll be blessed because you sowed the seeds of righteousness!
Your life will be changed completely as you receive the Word of God — as you go through the Bible allow God to show you His promises of what happens when you know you're the righteousness of God…
P.S. Satan is not stupid. He knows the source of your power — righteousness. The devil is working overtime to undermine your confidence, your stability, the security that comes from knowing who you are — the righteousness of God! Once you understand what it means to be established in righteousness, I guarantee that your life will be changed forever!
