Saul, a young man of noble birth, circumcised on the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; concerning the law, a Pharisee; concerning zeal, persecuting the church; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.
Saul was excel in zeal for the traditions of his father, more ambitious and recognized than any of his contemporaries, pursues his mission to wipe out the followers and influence of this Man, Jesus.
While he was on his way to Damascus for another mission to take the Lord’s followers into prison, a Light from heaven, brighter than the sun, flashed around him and he was blinded for three days. In his darkness, he had Christ, the same God who said, ‘Let there be light!’ revealing Himself within him. This Bright Light shone beyond his eyes into his hearts to give Saul the Pharisee, the light of the knowledge of the glory of God manifested through Christ. This spiritual phenomenon transformed Saul the Pharisee into Paul the Apostle. This spiritual phenomenon made him no longer knew Jesus from a human point of view but from a spiritual point of view. In this Bright Light exists no longer different types of people; even the Israelite, God’s chosen people, had also lose their prominence and natural identity.
After the falling of scales from his eyes, the Apostle Paul had the revelation of men no longer of Jew or Gentile, not even male or female, slave or freeman, but one new creation ever created in heaven and earth, born of the Spirit i.e. a new creation in Christ! This precious revelation became the passion of his new mission to reveal Christ in every man instead of persecuting every man of Christ.
Galatians 1:15-17 ~ But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb and called me through His grace, to reveal His Son in me, that I might preach Him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately confer with flesh and blood, nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me; but I went to Arabia, and returned again to Damascus.
Understanding what the Apostle Paul had gone through, indeed there is a great difference between preaching Christ to man and revealing Christ in man. It was through revealing Christ in man that transformed Saul... and we are all called through His grace, to reveal His Son in us…
very good Allan
