Memories...

I had spent my childhood here in this house for 10 years... Now this whole row of four houses had been turned into a cafe - Rumah Hijau Cafe, selling authentic Muslim food like... Ayam Penyet, Nasi Beryani, Indian Rojak and etc...

Where I was seated was used to be our living room. As I looked around recapturing my memories, I could still recall the spot where I used to park my toy cars... The small garden in front of the house is not there anymore... so as the shade of the garden plants where I used to hide my grasshopper.

He Ain't Heavy... He's My Brother

Recently, we had our sweet time looking through our photo albums. It was heart warming to see that our sons, Norman and Adrian, have grown up to be a young men. Looking back at their childhood, indeed we found ourselves missing those sweet moments as we strolled down the memory lane…

As they grew up, it's hard to get Norman and Adrian to post for a photo together, for Norman chose to stay behind the camera, to fulfill his dream as a professional photographer... and Adrian, in front of the camera as his model. Well, looking back at those beautiful photos, it is still not bad for a camera man like me to be able to capture those precious moments of a pro photographer to be...

From these photos, I noticed that though their appearances might change as the years go by, their smiles remain the same cos' smiles are from their hearts! Praise God, I have been prompted to share a piece of little Godly advice from the bottom of my heart: Do appreciate every single moment that you can have with your children... I am warning you, they are growing up... FAST!!! Before you know it, they have grown up. Though we had our sweet times with them but as we look back, we still feel that we have not done enough. But praise God, there is no regret... Though our sons may outgrown our laps, but they can never outgrow our hearts... Thank you, Penny!

Praise Daddy that even though we were not believer then, His love and protection were already on us... Praise the Lord for His unchanging love for each and everyone of us. He saw us through then and made sure that we were saved; and here we are, His very Beloved and the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus!!!

Because of His grace, the blessings described in Psalm 128 are mine!

Psalm 128

A song of ascents.
1 Blessed are all who fear the LORD,
who walk in his ways.

2 You will eat the fruit of your labor;
blessings and prosperity will be yours.

3 Your wife will be like a fruitful vine
within your house;
your sons will be like olive shoots
around your table.

4 Thus is the man blessed
who fears the LORD.

5 May the LORD bless you from Zion
all the days of your life;
may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem,

6 and may you live to see your children's children.
Peace be upon Israel...

Amen!

"MAN Go"

One year ago, Penny made a Mango Cheese Cake for our Elder Alex's birthday. We celebrated his birthday at our K Group because it was on Friday then. Ever since that night, the word "Man go" kept echoing in my head with the verse from Mark 16:15 kept knocking at my heart... I then released that through this Mango Cheese Cake, the Lord prompted me to share the Gospel through blogging...

Elder Alex with his Mango Cheese Cake - The Evangelistic Cake

Mark 16:15 ~ And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.

On the 25th of May last year, Norman helped me to create a blog entitled: "See The World Through His Heart". I did not think hard for a blog title then, it just flown out of me. I felt nice, Penny said nothing, Norman and Adrian said cool, so that's it. My first post was the Mango Cheese Cake ~ An Evangelistic Cake.

Looking back at this one year of blogging, I have seen the faithfulness of our Lord and there is nothing could be written if the Spirit did not lead or prompt. There were times when I was doing the final editing, I was amazed that what I was about to share could be changed totally according to the will of the Spirit. For this, I am referring to the post on Tithing. I encountered the most amazing experience through the post on Fasting that in a flick of a second, I could have the revelation for what to write.

In this one year of blogging life, I can conclude that in every part of the world, the battle is between grace and legalism. What is happening to me in Kuching is also happening in your place. When you are with "grace", you see more and more of Jesus... if you are with "legalism", you see more and more of yourselves...

This one year of blogging life also bought me numerous gracious friend from all over the world. It is amazing to know that though we have never met, we shared the same Spirit and message. Now I am trying my best to recall these friends I met in sequence...

Lydia Joy of A Joy To Be Me

Thank you guys for your gracious friendship through blogging. I also wish to thank all my readers for your support, encouragement and prayer. To conclude this post, I wish to dedicate my favorite Psalm as a blessing to you all...

I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may be able to comprehend with all the Saints what is the width and length and depth and height — to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Growing Up In The 60's and Early 70's

First of all, we drank our mother’s milk not cow milk! We were raised up by our mothers who had no maids and they cooked and cleaned while taking care of us. They gave us candy floss (like cotton), fizzy drink, shaved ice and biscuits dripped in syrups; and diabetes was rare. Salt was added to Coke as remedy for reducing our body heat, hypertension was rare also… We drank the real “mineral water” direct from the tap and not from a bottle. We ate candies, bread with full cream sweetened Nestle Condensed Milk (Red Wording milk) and “Golden Churn” butter and we were not overweight.

Our father’s cars had no aircond, CD player, no seat belts, air bags or ABS. Our private taxis were Mercedes Benz and were indeed a special treat for us to ride in one with the cost of $2.00 per trip. We walked to school because there were not many school bus drivers around and our fathers’ responsibility were to earn for the living and not to send us to school…

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, protection cover on doors or cabinets. As children, when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets. We did not have Play station, X-box, Nintendo, colour TV, multiple channels on cable TV, DVD movies, no surround sound, no phones, no personal computers, no Internet, no Hifi set, Wifi, and Bluetooth. With a mere 5 pebbles (stones), the girls would have the endless game for the whole day. With a ball (tennis ball is best), we boys would run like crazy for hours. Jumping the box was nice too…

We would spend hours on the fields under bright sunlight flying our kites, without worrying about the UV ray. We went to jungle to catch spiders and birds while kids of these days would look for dinosaurs instead... We caught guppies in drains and when it rained we swam there and flu was a stranger to us…

We could spend hours repairing and modifying our old bicycles. We even built wooden scooters out of scraps and rode them down the hill, only to find that we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem by using our feet… and the straps of our "Bata" slippers were reinforced with wire...

We could swing around the Rambutan Trees not for their fruits but for the fun of it. We fell out of trees, got cuts, broke bones and teeth and we still continued the stunts. We were shy to talk to girls until we were 18 and we only had our first birthday parties at 21.

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of because there were no laws given to us and yet this generation has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever! The past 40 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

To be honest, what our kids have in their childhood is not actually of their needs but of the leak syndrome from our childhood. This leak syndrome was also part of the inspiration that contributed to the invention and innovation… Anyway, we had grace, freedom, failure, success and responsibility. We learned, we innovate and we live…

You might want to share this with those who do not have this blessing of growing up as kids, and while you are at it, tell your kids so that they will know how brave their parents were.
