Faith Without The Truth Is Dead!

Have you believe the truth to have the right kind of faith for your right work? Those who like to resort themselves with the phrase “faith without work is dead” is indeed religious and legalistic. It is clear evidence that they still have the mixture of old and new covenant mentality… most of all, their attention is not on faith but on the work. Remember, religion dealt with the fruit while Jesus dealt with the root!

The implication of work in its context is our spontaneous action from the Gospel we have heard but it has been religiously implied as our work for church and our work for God. That is why this verse is best used in a work oriented church environment. Faith without work is dead… so by hook or by crook, WORK!!!!... to show others that you have FAITH!!!! The MORE you work, the BIGGER your faith is!!!

John 6:28-29 ~ Then they said to Him, "What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?" Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent."

With reference to the phrase "faith without work is dead" and in respect of this life threatening verse (at least it was threatening to me for many years), what kind of fresh revelation do I have after I have established myself on His grace? Hmmm... at least I have a platform to establish myself on… and I choose to establish myself in His grace for the rest of my life, for grace and truth comes through Jesus… and I suppose it is good for my heart to be established in grace too.

James 1:22-25 ~ But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.

James was actually talking about the spontaneous reaction of the hearer of the Gospel. The Gospel or the Resurrected Jesus Himself is our MIRROR. Every time we come to church, the preacher should take out this MIRROR and show Him to us. The MIRROR tells us that we are righteous, we are forgiven, we are blessed, we are prosperous, we are without sickness, we are free, we are precious in His eye… WE ARE IN CHRIST!

Before you question your own faith, ask yourself what kind of mirror have you been shown to when you come to church? Have you been shown with the mirror of Moses or the Mirror of Jesus? Have you been shown of your own sin, your shortcoming, your ugliness, or what you should do and what you shouldn’t do? WOW... That is not the right mirror! That is the mirror of Moses! If you have been shown to a wrong mirror, how are you going to have the right kind of faith? For faith comes by hearing, hearing by the words of CHRIST, not the words of Moses and also not the word of Elijah…

As I have said, it is not about faith that these legalistic people are concerned with. They are concerned with your work for their legalistic Kingdom. Our Lord Jesus is not concern with our work for His Kingdom for He said believe is the work for the work of God. He is more concerned with your WALK in His Kingdom!

Have you believe the right truth? (It is so sad that I have to add the word “right” in front of the word “truth”. Hey..., truth is truth, there is no right or wrong! But to certain people, we just have to add the word “right” there!) It is all about believing. When we believe right, our faith will be right and spontaneously, our work will be right. Please wake up from your sleep walking and come to your senses. Sleep walking cannot make you go far... you still have to go back to your bed and do your "waking up" there..., just like the Israelite in the wilderness!

Those who have ears, let them hear! This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent...

  2. Jesus is the Truth and it is in knowing this truth that we are being set free, free to reign in life!
So let us therefore stand fast in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and let us not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.

  3. Thank you Kat & Maurice,

TRUTH (JESUS) is the root, faith is the trunk, work is the fruit! Faith die first without the TRUTH (JESUS)... therefore, work is no more an issue if faith is not establish on the TRUTH (ROCK)!!!!

  4. Amen Brother, you are the truth and so the truth has spoken... He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. (1Jn 5:12) If one has Life, why concern with faith and work? He has them all.

Amen and Amen, God is good all the time the do part is that we believe and he that believes is the one that looks deep into this perfect law of liberty....believe means having the faith of God and if you have the faith of God it all comes automatic what God wants, there is no effort , you will be happy in what you do because God is happy....(Php 2:13) for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure. NASB
(Heb 13:21) equip you in every good thing to do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen. NASB
(2Th 2:13) But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth.
(2Th 2:14) It was for this He called you through our gospel, that you may gain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
(3Jn 1:3) For I was very glad when brethren came and testified to your truth, that is, how you are walking in truth.
(3Jn 1:4) I have no greater joy than this, to hear of my children walking in the truth. NASB

Thank you Alan! How sad that we grew up with the wrong mirror in the church, the one that was actually meant to give us identity. The truth about us that should have established us on our Rock. Sad when I talk to friends at work and they don't see it, but always want to bring in the sin-factor. The revelation comes from God. Sometimes it is like a fluorescent light that flickers before it comes on.... the revelation is seen but only for a few moments because their minds are still so legalistic... it takes time. But once you see it, you can never ever not see it any more... it shines bright! And the more you look at it, the brighter it becomes! Glory!

I feel so blessed to read all this Good News. Thanks Alan. Sometimes it feels to good to be true. But if I could have done it myself, there was no need for Jesus to die on the cross. All requirements met on my behalf. Thank you Jesus!!
