Don't Make Him A Liar (Part 2)

Holy Communion was ordained by God for the believers to remember Jesus’ finished work at the cross and to proclaim to the world the Lord’s death until He comes. Communion is so important in God’s eye that, Jesus Himself had to reveal this element personally to Paul, the Apostle of grace. Why Apostle of grace? Why not the eleven Apostles who lived day in and day out with Him?

Obviously, grace is the foundation and He needed a man who was a Pharisee of Pharisees, and converted by grace to expound this important truth. Indeed, believers need to be established in grace before any truth of this element can be revealed. His finished work at the cross was a glorious act that all beings in heavens stood still to witness His magnificent act. His death on the cross is the theme of heavens. Therefore, communion is all about remembering Jesus, His finished work at the cross and the celebration of His death.

This truth can never be revealed in a legalistic and a religious environment. Legalist and religious people are bound with negative mentality and they are so self-conscious that they can only see their own short coming, their own sin and their failure.

When Apostle Paul used the word “unworthy”; he meant the manner we partake the communion. Is our manner glorifying the magnificent act of Jesus? Are we glorifying Him when we come to the Table? Is our sin an unsettle issue? Are we made righteous because He was sacrificed at the cross? Are we blessed because He was hung on the tree? It is the manner of how we response to His magnificent work when we partake, not how worthy we are. Without His Body and Blood, nobody is worthy, including me!

Legalists and religious people are concerned of their behavior, their right standing with God and the way to approach God. They really come to the Lord’s Table with sincere heart. So they come before the Table confessing their sin. Ignorantly, they sin big time when they partake the Lord’s body because confession of sin before partaking is an unworthy manner. They are not recognizing the body of the Lord; they are recognizing their own body. By doing so, they are actually proclaiming to the world that Jesus did not do a good job on the cross or Jesus had not die yet, because their sins still remain. But the truth is; Jesus said “It’s finished...!” I rather believe in Jesus then those religious people.

Come to the Lord’s Table boldly knowing that all your sin, past, present and future had been forgiven. Give glory to His magnificent work on the cross and proclaim His death to the world and knowing that He will be back! He has prepared a Table for you in front of your enemies. This is the Place where your victories are waiting...

Don't make Him a lair.

  1. This is so wonderful! Thanks for writing it. Communion is something most people don't understand at all, you gave a perfect description of coming in an unworthy manner.

  2. I was from that sort of background before and it took me years to stand up to the little faith that the Lord had given me to believe that grace is the way to the truth.

Julie, those who appreciated His grace are placed at the center of His heart.

    Enjoy Him...

  3. I agree with your post but not what I think you are saying about sin? A genuine believer didn't repent once but continues to repent. Yes.. when we repent and place our faith in Christ we are forgiven of all our sins, but we also are sensitive to sin. When we do sin we confess that sin and continue to repent.

  4. Shalom Ike,

Yes.. when we repented and placed our faith in Christ we are forgiven of all our sins. You have done well in this sentence. This is the solid truth and this is the gospel of Christ.

When Jesus died for us on the Cross 2,000 year ago, we are in the future and all our sins are in future. Even if we commit sin now or we commit sin when we are ninety years old, our sins are forgiven. The Father has exhausted all our sins in the body of Christ 2,000 years ago.

Now, when come to confession, we are not going to confess the negative confession just like when we first confessed to put our faith in Jesus. We are already righteous the moment we put our faith in Christ. We are saved by grace through faith...

So, we are to confess positively. Confession is Homo Logo in Greek which means "Say the same thing". What did God say about our sins? They are all forgiven, past, present and future...! But we still fall here and there. So when we fall, stand up and confess that "Thanks you Jesus, You have taken away all my sins 2,000 year ago and I am still the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus!"

This is positive confession which is righteousness conscious. Righteousness conscious will lead us to Him and sin conscious isolate us from Him.

The following posts might help you to understand who we actually are in Christ.
